Is SP2 for windows Xp as good or better than Norton Internet Security?

i am wondering this because it requires less memory and norton slows my computer down. so does service pack 2 have anti spyware too?

sp2 is not an anti-virues or anti-spyware program. sp2 fixes the bugs in xp. thats all it does. u still need an anti virus and anti spyware program.

they are different things.

SP2 is a collection of fixes for things that should never have made it into the final build of the software (but unfortunately it is not a fix for all of those sort of things!). it is an OS update.

Norton Internet Security is a program than runs on top of your OS to attempt to prevent unwanted infections/accesses/etc.

install SP2 and run Norton also if you feel you must.

i avoid Norton products as they tend to be bloated and not particularlly useful in my situation.
Service Pack 2 is NOT a security software! It's just a bunch of updates for the various Windows XP security vulnerabilities that were earlier present.
