why does apop up that say"your current security settings prohibit running active x controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly"when I go to friendster and the web shows that the page cannot be displayed?????

your probably running internet explorer, this is sort of self explainatory, your internet security isnt letting you show stuff on the web page you look at. (the problem is that you cant see it right?)

if you are running windows xp a yellow bar at the top of the page should appear along with this message.you need to click on it and download the active x control to see these pages also go into your tools/internet options/secrity tab and set all 4 catagories to medium low.

Every unit should have a security manager. Call yours ASAP. If you don't know who he is, he's doing a piss poor job. Next option is to call the MPs, who will likely get CID involved.

I'm not sure how it's even possible unless someone copied classified onto some sort of portable media and purposely uploaded to an unclass system. However, if it's truly classified, expect that your computer will be confiscated and the hard drive wiped (there's a special way to do this so the data is unrecoverable) or destroyed.
Talk to your chain of command if you can. Go straight to your company commander. If not then the military police or counter-intelligence people will want to hear everything. You cannot do this anonymously so be prepared to name-and-shame and put your balls on the chopping block. If you are right and can prove it you will not be punished. You will also probably be transferred somewhere far far away.
Who did you initially contact. Shouldn't be a 2d time. Call your commander, first sergeant, CID, or the Counter-Intel folks.

I would check the file association for the file type (ie. jpeg, jpg, gif). I have seen this happen when the file is trying to open with Microsoft Photo Manager.

Open My compter %26gt; Tools %26gt; Folder Options %26gt; File Types tab. Find the file type and associate it to Microsoft Picture/Fax Viewer or a photo editor you have installed.

the red cross mean that the picture isn't there to display try this out open internet explorer click tools click internet options click on the advanced tab scroll down to multimedia (about half way down) make sure there's a tick in the show pictures box

by the way defrag and scandisk or checkdisk as it is now won't screw anything up they're essential tasks that have to be done about once a month

Many sites create there music players using Flash. Try going to adobe.com and downloading there "Adobe Flash Player" It's free and will allow you to listen to music, play games, and see other interactive and animated content.

If the Flash player doesn't solve your problem you'll need another plugin/player to view the content. Other popular ones include:

I would recommend that you contact McAfee technical support directly and have them walk you through your settings over the phone. You'll also want to make sure you have the program installed correctly, properly configured, completely up to date and also that you have an entire suite that includes adware protection.

With PuPs (potentially unwanted programs) you may not want your security suite to automatically delete them all... but there should be settings within the programs preferences that allow you to specify what actions it will take.

Try running McAfee in Safe Mode. Safe Mode often prevents malware from protecting itself.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1.Log out and reboot your machine.

2.When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.

3.Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.

4.When the login screen comes up, log in as Administrator. By default, Administrator has no password.

5.The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance.

6.When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Note that even if the anti-malware programs get rid of the malware, they may not be able to reverse the effects.

If you have your original mcafee CD, try running the installer, it will give you an option to upgrade or remove your current mcafee install.

You can also manually remove mcafee but this is a tedious task,this involves editing your services, registry etc, Try first by using the mcafee cd you have.

Disconnect yourself from the internet. Go to My Computer on your desktop and right-click. Click on Manage and click on services and applications then click on services. After the list populates stop all services associated with McAfee by right clicking and click on Stop.

Option1:

Go to add/ remove programs and it should work this time.

Option 2 if option 1 doesn't work you may have to reinstall everything

Go to C:/ Program Files/ McAfee and delete the entire folder.

Go to Start on the desktop and click on run

Type 'regedit' click Enter

At the top of the tree click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ Software/ Find the McAfee folder right click and delete.

Do the same steps for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

****Please be careful to not delete any other keys because it could mess your PC.

Go to your recycle bin and empty. Run the Add/ Remove Programs

Then reboot your machine.
