Accessing server application on other computer within network?

Me and my buddy are making a webapp.

He is running the webapp (JSPs) on an apache tomcat server...

we are within the same router(wireless)....

i tried http://(his ip):8080/(appname)

I have tried his router assigned ip, the actual internetip, his pc name////still doesnt work

we are both running windows vista.... we're thinking its a security issue but we need to know how to fix it...we both brought doen firewalls and everything.... what to do?
